Knights of Stratford on Avon

I am trying to trace my family history where it has been sugested that our branch originated from a one John Knight, possible bastard son of William Shakespear of S.O.A.
Now I know this sounds corny, but I have a funny story passed down from my Great Aunt who was told by her parents of this idea of being connected to possibly the Bard himself. My own family history has taken me back to the Knights who lived in the row of cottages opposite the Birthplace of the Bard in Henly Street in 1724.
When I was trying to find out more info at the Shakespear Trust building, I did encounter the cold shoulder and havent managed to get any further back to substantiate any further evidence of my ancesters before this time.
If anyone is doing family history on the Knight family of S.O.A, I would be very gratful for any information.
On my grandmothers side, I am also connected to the Underhill family whwere coincidently, a William Underhill actualy sold house to William Shakespear.
